Maze Runner: The Death Cure

set design - 2016

The exterior design of this transport aircraft, known as the ‘Berg’, was established in the previous Maze Runner movie but the interior was to be featured prominently in The Death Cure and required a new, original design. Starting from a preliminary 3D model developed by the Production Designer and Art Director, I designed and detailed all aspects of this cargo bay set, including the tail section cargo doors and the ‘hoist bay’ with its sliding floor doors that revealed an opening for a hoist. I was also required to produce several complex CNC models for the Berg’s tail that were milled from foam, integrated with the SPFX structure, and acted as a starting point for the VFX exterior.
